- Grants Manager
Carmen oversees the review and preparation of grant awards for a portfolio of private foundation clients, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and maintaining comprehensive records of grant application materials and approvals. She conducts thorough due diligence on applicant organizations and manages grantee engagement, communications, grant processing, reporting, and the preparation of foundation board meeting materials. Leveraging her experience in foundation operations, Carmen partners with senior leadership to develop strategic, sophisticated solutions for clients and serves as their primary point of contact.
Her ability to drive projects forward, combined with her exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a creative, solutions-oriented mindset, enables her to deliver meaningful results. Carmen is committed to enhancing operational efficiency across Sendero’s Foundations & Philanthropy division and plays a key role in streamlining back-office processes in collaboration with firm leadership.
Since joining Sendero® in 2012, Carmen has worked closely with firm leadership and developed deep institutional knowledge across each division within the firm. With a heart for service and a background in the nonprofit sector, she serves as a valuable member of Sendero’s internal philanthropy team—collaborating with colleagues to engage with local charitable organizations and coordinate volunteer opportunities for the firm. Carmen also serves on the firm’s events team, partnering with the marketing department to plan and execute multiple events each year.
