POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Marketing leads the firm’s marketing strategy, technology, and measurement, and is responsible for both setting direction and executing the work. Reporting to firm leadership and working closely with the business development team, this role owns the firm’s brand, content, and marketing systems across its client segments. Marketing responsibilities are currently distributed across an experienced full-time marketing professional, an outside production agency, and firm leadership; this role consolidates that work under a single owner who develops the strategy and produces the materials that support client acquisition, client engagement, and firm growth.

JOB DUTIES (including but not limited to):

Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute the firm’s marketing strategy across its client segments, aligned with firm growth objectives and business development targets
  • Connect marketing activity to business outcomes and reallocate resources away from what does not perform
  • Maintain a data-driven approach to decision-making, using analytics to refine strategy and improve results
  • Manage and report on the marketing budget
  • Select and manage key marketing vendors and optimize the service provider ecosystem
  • Provide leadership, management, and career development for the marketing team members

Content & Brand

  • Produce and edit content across brochures, white papers, web copy, social media, email, and campaigns, in collaboration with the subject-matter experts when needed
  • Own the editorial calendar and production process, including sourcing strong material from partners and advisors whose time is limited
  • Maintain a consistent brand voice and visual identity across all print and digital materials
  • Maintain the firm’s website, keeping pages current and coordinating updates with the outside production agency
  • Own quality control to ensure every print and digital piece is free of typos, formatting errors, and outdated figures
  • Collaborating with the Compliance team to ensure all client-facing material meets compliance and SEC Marketing Rule requirements before release

Systems & Campaigns

  • Select, implement, and maintain the firm’s marketing automation platform, including workflows, campaigns, email deployments, and reporting
  • Manage and maintain the marketing aspect of CRM in coordination with business development
  • Plan and execute multi-channel marketing campaigns across email, social media, events, and content
  • Manage lead generation and nurture programs that move prospects through the pipeline, in coordination with business development

Collaboration & Events

  • Partner with advisors, partners, and the investment team to develop recurring engagement campaigns for clients and referral relationships
  • Plan and execute firm events and client experiences that support community engagement and brand visibility
  • Support the firm’s presence with centers of influence and across the Central and South Texas communities

Performance Metrics & KPIs

  • Marketing-sourced qualified leads added to the pipeline
  • Content produced and published on schedule against the editorial calendar
  • Website engagement: traffic, time on page, and inquiry conversion
  • Email performance: list growth, open and click rates, and nurture conversion
  • Social media performance: follower growth, engagement rate, and click-throughs to firm content
  • Campaign performance against defined goals for each initiative
  • Event participation, follow-up engagement, and lead generation
  • Marketing budget managed within plan
  • Compliance review completed on all client-facing material prior to release

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field
  • Minimum 7 years of marketing experience, with direct experience in wealth management or financial services
  • Working knowledge of compliance review, advisor dynamics, long sales cycles, and referral-led growth
  • Hands-on marketing automation experience, including building workflows, campaigns, reporting, and email deployments
  • Strong writer and editor who produces and refines content directly rather than directing others
  • Demonstrated strategic judgment, connecting activity to outcomes and defending decisions to cut what does not work
  • Track record managing editorial calendars and content production, including sourcing material from busy subject-matter experts
  • Experience leading people and directly managing team members
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, marketing automation platforms, and Microsoft Office
  • Web content management systems experience

  • Experience working in an RIA or fiduciary environment

WORK ENVIRONMENT & TRAVEL

This is an in-office role based in San Antonio, with occasional local and regional travel for firm events, community engagements, and industry conferences.

Job Duties

  • Build a Relationship Based Practice: fostering deep, trusted, and long-term relationships across generations to help families dedicatedly navigate situations and decisions related to life stages and wealth transfer
  • Support 50-75 clients, take a leadership role in 10-20 client relationships
  • Independently provide investment guidance, and implementing strategies for clients
  • Own monthly financial modeling and database management responsibilities such as IPS Targets and portfolio monitoring to proactively identify opportunities
  • Master understanding of risk statistics and various other portfolio measurement tools to verify accuracy of investment strategies and benchmark performance
  • Master understanding of global markets
  • Use of independent judgement & decision making abilities as well as questioning decisions & probing deeper to ensure best decisions are made
  • Lead the Sendero Guidance Process with clients
  • Create asset allocation recommendations based on investment team’s asset allocation targets and clients’ needs
  • Ability to successfully discuss in-depth investment related questions
  • Collaboratively work with all areas of the firm ensuring client request and needs are executed in a timely manner
  • Full control in the Request for Proposals process
  • Take a leadership role in firm projects
  • Attend prospect presentations and assist in the on-boarding process
  • Attend marketing and business-related events as necessary and/or required

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree preferred in business-related field (accounting, finance, economics, risk management, data analytics, data science or mathematics)
  • Required: 5+ years investment related experience
  • Strong knowledge of portfolio performance and rebalancing systems
  • Strong presentation skills in front of individuals and groups
  • Lead a team of Portfolio Managers by mentoring and coaching
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg and/or FactSet
  • Series 65 license is required and remain in good standing
  • Assume an active role in community board(s)

Competencies:

  • Experience with and/or knowledge of behavioral finance
