Chief Global Affairs Officer at Balyasny Asset Management
Brooke Harlow is the Chief Global Affairs Officer at Balyasny Asset Management (BAM) and a member of the firm’s Management Committee. She is responsible for global public policy, legislative and regulatory affairs and leads the geopolitical risk team at the firm. She also manages the firm’s philanthropy, employee networks, and sustainability initiatives and previously led vendor partnerships and global corporate services. Harlow joined BAM in 2023 from the Managed Funds Association, where she served as Chief Commercial Officer. Before that, Harlow was a Managing Director at Highbridge Capital Management and Vice President in the Investment Bank at J.P. Morgan. Harlow has been recognized as one of the 50 Leading Women in Hedge Funds and serves on the Global Advisory Board of Girls Who Invest as well as ATLAS Fellows. She is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the Economic Club of New York, former co-president of the Board of Governors and trustee of The Hotchkiss School, and an executive committee member of the Women’s Board of the Boys Club of New York. Harlow has a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Yale University and was selected as a Rotary Scholar to study International Relations at El Colegio de Mexico in Mexico City.

As Chief Investment Officer, Dr. John Rowsell is responsible for surveying the market environment and advising the investment committee and research team. John’s decades of work in the hedge fund industry provide him with a unique vantage point. John’s investment career began in Chicago and took him on to Zurich and London. He has held many notable roles including leadership positions in the world’s largest fund-of-funds firm, Man Group, PLC, C-suite positions in global investment firms, former Advisor to Goldman Sachs, and former Director, Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
John holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and a BSc. from University of Guelph in Canada. John is a Board Member of the Virginia Tech Foundation and former Board Member of Teach for America, Chicago.
